Welcome to Miss Barrowman's
Fourth Grade Classroom
2011 - 2012
Announcements
Dear Fourth Graders, Can you believe we've already celebrated our 100th day this year? Now we're looking forward to working on our Social Studies fair projects, fractions and decimals, and finishing our persuasive essays! Third quarter book projects have been sent home (see "assignments" for a copy). The Summer Reading list, still attached below, can give you ideas for what to read this quarter-books from the "target" or "challenge" lists are appropriate for this quarter. Students should be reading an average of 30 minutes day.
Keep practicing those multiplication facts! Now that we all know them by heart, we are able to tackle big time multiplication and division (Mrs. Jansen is so excited about this!). In the next several weeks, we will spend 15 minutes each day reviewing and practicing one problem solving strategy.
During Lent, we attend 9am mass on Wednesday with the 5th grade and Stations of the Cross at 1:30pm on Fridays with the whole school.
Reminders: Fourth graders must have a supply of pencils and loose leaf paper daily. At this point in the year, it's a good idea to check in with your child to see if he/she needs a refill for either of these items. Fourth graders are responsible for collecting their mail at the end of each and every day as well as emptying out the homework folder at home.
As we transition from winter (though it may not feel like it) to spring, be healthy and happy!
God Bless, Miss Barrowman
