Mrs. Jennifer Kordziel

Second Grade

Welcome to our class!

About Me

I believe that all children are unique individuals.  Each child comes to school with different experiences and knowledge.  I know that children learn in different ways and at different rates.  In our classroom I will teach using different teaching styles in order for each child to reach his or her maximum learning potential.  It is my goal to have a classroom filled with students who are learning, trying new things, and are happy.  You may already know that my motto is "No worries".  I want students to feel safe and secure in my class.  I am sure we will have a wonderful year!

I graduated from the College of Saint Rose with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology.  I also hold an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I am Permanently Certified in NYS to teach from Birth through Grade 6.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, and after staying home with my children, my dream is coming true.  I am thankful and honored to teach at St. Madeleine Sophie School alonsgide with truly wonderful people whom I consider family.

I have a wonderful, supportive husband, Dan, and three amazing sons.  Matthew is currently a student at SMS and Ryan and Christopher are  SMS graduates.

WELCOME, MRS. SHOEMAKER!

I am pleased to be teaching 2nd grade while Mrs. Kordziel is on maternity leave and am looking forward to sharing the remainder of this school year with your children.

Thank you for the warm welcome that has been extended to me.

Here is a little bit about me.   I graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and The College of Saint Rose with a Masters Degree in Reading.  I taught second grade, remedial reading and math, and preschool before joining the Saint Madeleine Sophie School family.  Last year was my first year at SMS, and I was a teacher assistant in the four year old classroom.  I began this year co-teaching in the four year old classroom, and am excited to now be teaching second grade while Mrs. Kordziel is on maternity leave.  I am ready for a busy, but exciting year!

Along with becoming the 2nd grade teacher in November, I also got married to Brian on November 12th at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, where I am a parishioner.  We were blessed to have such a beautiful day.

Again, thank you for your support as I make this transition.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND WARMEST WISHES FOR A BLESSED NEW YEAR FROM

MRS. SHOEMAKER, MRS. KORDZIEL AND THE STUDENTS IN 2ND GRADE

Homework

Homework will be given nightly Monday - Thursday.  The assignments will vary, however a standard assignment to be done each night is to read at least 15 minutes.  Homework will be written in the students' Assignment Notebook daily.  I ask that you check your child's assignment book each day and initial it by the date so I know you have seen the expectations for the night.  Homework is to be turned in the next day and will be marked in my grade book as complete or not complete.  Homework is a way to reinforce skills and concepts taught in class, as well as teaching students responsibility and time management.  I thank you in advance for your support in this area.
